Roundabout – Refreshing Art

Filmography
Edition of postcards, (17 motifs), 2007, printed in offset and relief varnish on recycled paper, 10×15 cm, produced by Luxembourg and the Greater Region, European Capital of Culture 2007.
Filmography is a collection of freeze-frames, which address the shared basis of our cinematic culture. The drawings are accompanied by quotations and recompose an odd, surreal and mythological visual universe in a poetic way. The cards are not linked together, neither through the drawing, nor through the words, but they each present themselves as the initiation of a potential story, a déjà-vu, a fragment of experience. Off-camera, ellipses, editing, sub-titled images, scale of shot: the apparatus exploits our cinematic “habits” and “conditioning”. Viewers are invited to collect these snippets, create their own scenario, and play at combining the pieces of narrative on offer with their own stories.
The installation includes 6 postcard display stands with 6800 postcards (17 motifs in 400 exemplars) offered to visitors.
